The new system for the production of artificial snow is being built so that all installations can be put into operation with one accompanying ski slope and connecting roads for the connection of the mentioned slopes.
All this will enable the Kopaonik ski center to be ready for operation at the beginning of the ski season. So, we will get a far more efficient artificial snowmaking of the entire Kopaonik ski resort, which will enable the complete vertical transport to work in just 72 hours when weather conditions permit.
To achieve this goal, the Kopaonik ski center does not have sufficient water capacity, so a central pumping station is being built, with a new reservoir on Mali Karaman (1,904 m above sea level) with a capacity of 115,000 m3, which will be supplied with water from the existing reservoirs Crvena bara, Mali Karaman and Krčmar. . The approximate length of the new reservoir will be 200 meters at the bottom, the width will be 51 meters, and the average depth will be 9 meters.
The pumping station at the location of the new reservoir is being built so that the water distribution takes place on both sides. The two-way movement of water involves filling the reservoir from the existing reservoirs – Crvene bare, Mali Karaman and Krčmar, and at the same time, from the new pumping station, it is possible to distribute water during the period of operation of the ski resort to these directions in the other direction.
That is why four directions are being built for the distribution of water to and from the ski resort system, all as part of the unique operation of the new storage area at the location of the Mali Karaman peak. The first direction is to Mali Karaman, the second to Duboka, the third to Kneževi Bara and the fourth to Bela Reca 2.
At the location of the new reservoir, a building for a pumping station with an area of 500 square meters, a new transformer station with a nominal power of 1600 kVA and a new access road are being built.
