Snowboard race “Dane Gegoj Memorial 2025” held on Kopaonik

On Wednesday and Thursday, January 15 and 16, 2025, a memorial snowboard race dedicated to the legendary Dane Gegoj, who left a significant mark on Serbian snowboarding, was held on the Malo Jezero slope on Kopaonik.

Competitors from Macedonia, India, Greece, the Czech Republic, and local clubs from Stara Planina, Zlatibor, and Kopaonik gathered to celebrate this event.

Among the prominent competitors was the young athlete Nikita Georgiev (8), who won the gold medal in the slalom category, as well as the silver in the giant slalom category. Nikita achieved a good result, and in the photo he is with his coach Aleksandar Ilić, who played a key role in his success.

We congratulate Nikita and his team on this great success and thank all competitors and participants for their contribution to this unforgettable race dedicated to the famous Dane Gegoj.

We would like to remind you that Dane Gegoj was a prominent sportsman who passed away on January 2, 2024 on the ski slope on Kopaonik, at the age of 65. He was the president of SK Bibis from Belgrade, a long-time member and president of the Snowboard Committee of the Ski Association of Serbia, an active coach, instructor and technical delegate of the Ski Association of Serbia. He is one of the pioneers of snowboarding in Serbia, who left an indelible mark on this sport.
