The great wealth that the untouched nature of Kopaonik selflessly offers has always enticed many researchers, nature lovers, mountaineers to visit this area and get to know the most diverse types of mushrooms and wild edible plants.
In honor of porcini mushrooms, on Kopaonik from September 1st to September 3rd, culinary competitions and an exhibition of ethnic offerings of the Kopaonik region are organized, from handicrafts to natural brandies, seasoned with original song and dance.
The quality of porcini mushrooms is assessed by an expert jury in several categories. Prizes are provided for the best in various disciplines.
Mushroom days 2023 – PROGRAM
Friday, September 1
- 09:00 – Departure for organized mushroom picking with guides from the “Kopaonik” National Park and the regional mushroom growing society, “Kopaonik” from Raška
- 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Offer of mushroom products from the Kopaonik region
- 15:00 – Determination of found mushrooms and preparation of the exhibition
- 17:00 – Lecture on the protection of nature and mushroom habitats
Saturday, September 2
- 10:00 – Opening of the mushroom exhibition
- 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Offer of mushroom products from the Podkopaonica region
- 10:00 – “Photo safari” – walking tour
- 12:00 – Competition in the preparation of mushroom dishes in the following categories:
– Cold appetizers
– Soupy dishes
– Grill (tray) - 14:00 – Cultural and artistic program
- 15:00 – Evaluation of competitors
- 17:00 – Lecture on the protection of nature and mushroom habitats
Sunday, September 3
- 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. offer of mushroom products from the Kopaonik region
- 11:00 – Lectures on mushrooms organized by the Serbian Mycological and Mushroom Association.
During the week of the event (from August 28 to September 2 until 12:00 p.m.), every day there will be measurement and recording of porcini mushrooms found in categories I and II class for the purpose of competition and awarding of prizes.
During the event, there will be a permanent exhibition of mushrooms from Kopaonik with the presence of educators from the Kopaonik National Park and representatives of the association of mushroom growers.
Organizers of the event are the Raška Tourist Organization, Kopaonik National Park and MK Mountain resort.
