Did you know that snowboarding originated from a simple but ingenious idea?
American engineer Sherman Popen connected two skis to allow his daughter Amelia to sledge on the snow, which laid the foundation for a sport that today combines adrenaline, freedom and winter joys all over the world.
Thanks to this invention, snowboarding has become a popular sport among all generations and has been included in the family of Olympic disciplines. Every year on December 21, International Snowboarding Day is celebrated all over the world, while more and more people discover this popular sport on the slopes of our mountains.
Whether you are an adventure lover, a beginner who wants to learn a new hobby, or an experienced professional, snowboarding is a great way to get out of your routine and combine recreation with spending time in the fresh air.
It’s time to imagine yourself on a ski slope, surrounded by snow-covered spruce and fir trees, bending under the weight of the snow cover. The cold, almost sharp air is completely clean, and the wind carries only the scent of pine. All around you are the sounds of other snowboarders and skiers enjoying the snow that fell the night before. In addition, the trail is impeccably groomed, which allows for easier navigation and provides ideal conditions for mastering the new trick you’ve been practicing. If you liked all of this and want to try something completely new, we present a technique that will make you the boss on the trail.
The Karaman Greben trail on Kopaonik is a great place to try one of the basic, but extremely useful snowboarding techniques – Falling Leaf. The movement of the board resembles a leaf swaying in the wind – you slide slowly left, then right, using the edge of the snowboard to control speed and direction. While you lean on the back or front edge (depending on what suits you better), your gaze remains directed down the slope, while your body remains relaxed. Bend your knees to maintain balance, and with gentle leg movements you move from one side to the other. And while you enjoy every second of your descent, your family watches you from the windows of the luxurious Grey Hotel on the slope, filming the perfect reel, cheering you on and admiring your skills from above, while enjoying the beautiful view of the slope.
Enjoying every moment of your winter vacation becomes easier thanks to accommodation in an excellent location, directly on the “Karaman greben” slope, where you will be just a step away from the perfect conditions for fully enjoying the charms of winter sports.
