Bend Manitarock (μανιτάρι + ροκ ie mushroom + rock) emphasizes the special relationship of members of the band with mushrooms and rock style of the band, which is known mainly for live performances at the festival of fungi. Manitarock was born and lives in Grevena, a “fungus town”. The transition of band members from rock, rebecca, “art”, folk-traditional bands and Byzantine Choirs indicates the breadth of musical style that combines traditionally with modern, mixed with unspoken and Greek with the world. This style is shown in Giorgos’s (Γιώργος Κωνσταντινίδης) compositions and combined with the special performance of Despina (Δέσποινα Κλεισιάρη), gives the band a special place in the adaptation of traditional songs from Epirus, Macedonia, Thrace, Smyrna, Pontos and Greece Salentina.
This unique mix of these musical traits forms an original orchestral view of folk and contemporary Greek songs and leads to the mixing of traditional epic songs with classic rock compositions based on the ancient Pentagon scale. The characteristic debates of Despine and Giorgos and “tweaked”, with special tuning and buzzing motifs, are fully supported by the keys of Stergios (Στέργιος Κώττας) and are rhythmically emphasized by Demosthenes (Δημοσθένης Κωνσταντινίδης), restoring the original melodies and rhythms to the forefront.
