Jošanička Banja, which is located at the foot of Kopaonik due to its altitude (550 m above sea level), terrain configuration and thermal springs (36 to 78.2 ° C) has the characteristics of a mountain spa.
During the fourteenth century, the healing properties of the mineral waters of Jošanička Banja were used by the Turks, who built a small bathroom that was expanded and decorated in the eighteenth century.
The first known examination of the healing properties of the mineral waters of Jošanička Banja was performed in 1834 at the Vienna Medical University at the request of Prince Miloš. The water was tested and impressive results were obtained, after which Prince Miloš gladly stayed in Jošanička Banja with his family.
During his tour of the terrain on Kopaonik, Josif Pančić paid attention to Jošanička Banja, about which he said: “That it is the warmest in Europe and has no other than the one in Brusi and Asia Minor, and that it can be measured with water in Gostron, only which is much warmer. “
The waters in Jošanička Banja belong to the group of hypothermia, and they contain sodium, potassium, calcium, hydrocarbons, sulfates and fluorine. During treatment, they are used by drinking as well as in combination with hydro-kinesi therapy.
