Kopaonik, September 2, 2020 – In order to protect and sustainably develop mountain areas, the company Lidl Serbia carried out an action of cleaning Kopaonik this weekend, in order to collect waste that endangers the very nature of this mountain and impairs its appearance. In cooperation with the rescuers of the Mountain Rescue Service, the urban centers were cleaned, as well as the parts around and under the cable cars, and the collected waste will be further processed by the partner of the action Ecostar Pak, which specializes in waste disposal.
In order to contribute to the preservation of the natural environment, since it is unfortunately polluted in many beautiful parts of Serbia, Lidl has launched an initiative to clean the mountains. During this action, which was held on Saturday, August 29, 25 bags were collected, which makes a total of 45 kg of waste.
After the cleaning action on the mountain Kopaonik, it is planned to continue on other mountains, and the next potential destinations are Stara planina, Fruška gora and Zlatibor.
“We want to contribute to the protection of nature by taking such actions, not only to clean the natural environment and mountain areas from waste, but in cooperation with our partners GSS and Ekostar Pak, and further influence the information and raising environmental awareness of citizens. . By emphasizing the responsibility of all of us, we strive to promote a common goal, which is environmental protection, so we invite other companies, volunteers and citizens to join the actions of cleaning the most visited areas in Serbia“, said Jasmina Šrndić from the corporate communications department of Lidl Serbia .
This action is just one in a series of socially responsible initiatives of the company for the implementation of the strategy “REset Plastic”, whose important component is, among other things, the removal of plastic waste. The environmental strategy of “REset Plastic” is focused on five areas of activity: from reducing the use of plastics, increasing the use of recycled plastics and removing waste from nature, to encouraging environmental innovation and education in this area.
